  • Endodontics | Dentasya

Endodontics What is Oral Endodontics? Endodontics is a branch of dentistry and is applied together with root canal treatment. It deals with diseases that occur in tissues such as veins and nerves in the inner part of the tooth, as well as in the tissues around the tooth. Endodontics; whitening teeth, treatment of traumatized teeth and the treatment of many dental diseases such as these. Teeth are the first organ where the digestive system begins. For this reason, many foods come into direct contact with the teeth. The teeth in our body are in a structure that will prepare the ground for the formation of many diseases. The pulp that endodontics deals with is one of the tooth layers and is located in the root canal inside the tooth. The pulp is a soft structure equipped with nerves and blood vessels. Endodontics, which deals with a wide area, applies the treatment of diseases that occur in this layer. How is Endodontics Done? If the existing dental infections have descended to the pulp layer of the tooth, endodontics prevents the extraction of this tooth. In the old practices, the infected tooth was extracted and it was not possible to save it. Endodontics performs the treatment of such damaged teeth. During the endodontic procedure, the pulp and nerves are removed. The infection inside the teeth is cleaned. Then the teeth are filled and the patient can use their teeth as before. After this application, only hot and cold sensation sensitivity occurs in the teeth. As a result of this treatment, tooth loss is prevented and the tooth is regained. The tooth, whose nerve tissue is damaged, is divided into pieces and bacteria settle in these spaces. While multiplying bacteria cause great damage to the tooth, it can also spread to other teeth. In cases where endodontics does not interfere with tooth decay, the jawbone may be damaged along with tooth decay. Endodontist is the name given to dentistry that deals with the dental nerves. First, a dental x-ray is taken and the diseased tooth is detected. Then, local anesthesia is applied to that area by the physician. In order to prevent the area from getting wet, the teeth are covered with a waterproof material and root canal treatment is applied in this way. Very small holes are created to reach the area. The diseased area is intervened in a dry and wide area. Here, the doctor cleans all the infections that occur outside the teeth and teeth. The tooth is completely cleared of damaged parts. It is necessary to fill the gaps in the cleared area. For this reason, the drilled tooth is thoroughly enlarged and the filling process is completed in the teeth. The enlargement process is called channel filing. After the filling process, the opened hole in the tooth is closed. In Which Situations Is Endodontic Method Applied? Endodontics, which examines the tooth in depth, considers the tooth and jaw as a whole. This treatment method is based on the prevention of tooth loss. In extensive dental infections, it is ensured that the tooth and tooth environment are completely free of infection. Endodontic application gives healthy results in inflammations reaching down to the jawbone. It also provides cleaning processes in tooth fragmentation. With the decision of the physician, endodontic treatment is applied in diseases such as dental caries, cracked teeth, bridged and dentures, and deep dental caries. It is also known as root canal treatment among the people. It is a method used directly in dental caries. It creates a definitive solution to infections in root canals. Diseased and painful tooth can be easily healed with this method without the need for tooth extraction. The teeth of the patient are restored to their former state by filling the gaps formed in the area of the cleaned teeth. All teeth are cleaned of bacteria and problems such as yellowing, decay and darkening are eliminated. Pain After Endodontics Endodontics, which is applied for the purpose of saving the tooth, is a very common treatment method, no matter how sensitive it is. One of the most common dental problems today is tooth decay. During this application, local anesthesia is applied by the physician due to the spread of the caries. Treatment begins with anesthetizing the tooth. For this reason, no pain is felt during the treatment phase. After root canal treatment, slight pain and ache may be felt after the effect of the drug wears off. In some cases, it is observed that pain or ache in the mouth lasts for several days. Depending on the area where the infections in the teeth spread, numbness may be felt in the teeth for a few days. The severity of the pain or ache is determined by the size of the discomfort of the tooth. Usually, these pains are temporary and incisional. What Does Endodontic Treatment Do? Endodontics, which aims to restore the old functions of the teeth, is a treatment method that helps to save the teeth. With this treatment method, the natural structure of the teeth is preserved. This method, which aims to prevent tooth loss, is one of the permanent treatment methods. It is ensured that not only the tooth, but also the surrounding of the tooth is free of infections. Bacterial infections that go down to the jawbone are completely cleared by the endodontic method. Damages in the dental pulp and surrounding tissues are removed with the most appropriate technique. It is aimed to regain the tooth by applying the endodontic method on teeth with problems such as fractures, caries and trauma. In root canal treatment, the position of the tooth in the mouth is preserved. As it is known, dental caries is a widespread problem. Endodontics is also used in the treatment process of the mouth and face. It is aimed to prevent pulp diseases. This method of treatment prevents the spread of recurring dental infections. Endodontic teeth whitening procedures are also applied here. After the root canal treatment, the gaps formed are eliminated. Filling procedures are performed on the teeth that need filling, and the tooth is regained its former functions. It is an effective dental treatment method in the treatment of teeth that have undergone dental trauma. How Long Does Endodontics Take? If the endodontic root canal treatment decision is made for the damaged and diseased tooth, this means that the tooth can be saved. Root canal treatment is a treatment method applied to get rid of infection of the teeth. This method, which is applied to protect the natural tooth structure, also removes the bacteria in the root canal from the teeth. Infection around the tooth is caused by the proliferation of bacteria that settle in the root canal. If the pulp is damaged by a bacterial infection, it is decided to apply endodontics if this situation is determined by the physician. Treatment time varies according to the number of root canals in the tooth. At the same time, the difficulty of the root canals and the jaw structure can also change this period. To say an average treatment time, 1 or 1.5 hours can be given for a 3-channel tooth. What Should Be Considered After Endodontics? After endodontic treatment, in which deep dental caries are removed, there are situations that should be considered as after every treatment. The treatment is completed in a single session. For this reason, with careful attention to some issues, rapid recovery occurs. Care should be taken not to overuse the treated tooth. After the treatment, it is necessary to pay attention to the consumption of hot or cold. After the completion of the treatment, no food or drink should be consumed for one or two hours. After the treatment, pain and ache may occur in the mouth for a few days. For this reason, warm food should be consumed for a few days and the consumption of hard foods should be avoided. Oral care and hygiene should not be interrupted. If oral care is disrupted, infection and decay problems may occur again in the teeth. It should not be forgotten that the most effective way to prevent tooth decay is dental care. How Long Can Teeth Be Used After Endodontics? The aim is to save the tooth instead of pulling it out. The cost of endodontic method is the least dental application. It is an inevitable treatment method in cases where the pulp tissue, which is the tooth layer, is damaged and the tooth is fragmented. In order to regain the old form of the cleaned and repaired teeth, the filling process is performed and the gaps are removed. Teeth with root canal treatment are not distinguished from other teeth in terms of appearance. For this reason, there is no concern for aesthetic appearance in endodontics. If the root canal treated tooth is well cared for after the treatment, it can be used for life. We prevent the formation of bacteria and caries in the treated tooth with oral care. Can Endodontics Fail? The endodontic method, which purifies the mouth and teeth from bacteria, is applied to most people today. It is easily applied to everyone with the aim of saving the teeth and regaining their old structure. It is a treatment method that is mostly successful and receives good returns, except for adverse situations and patient-related reasons. After treatment, tooth decay is inevitable in neglected teeth. With the consumption of hard foods, fractures may occur in the fillings. There may be a re-infection with bacterial growth in the root canals. All of these are failures caused by the patient. On the other hand, improper application of root canal treatment creates a suitable environment for the growth of bacteria. These bacteria then cause infection in the root canals. Although there is a small chance that the treatment will fail, root canal treatment should be applied without making any mistakes. Does the Endodontic Tooth Inflamm Again? Endodontics, one of the successful dental treatment methods, is an easily applied method. Although the success rate is quite high, the margin of error is quite low. However, due to the person's not paying attention to oral care and disruption of oral hygiene, problems may occur again in treated teeth. Fractures are seen in fillings with hard blows in the mouth or consumption of hard-textured food. Thus, due to patient-related reasons, a re-inflammation of the teeth may occur. If there is a bacterial leakage into the root canals again, infection may occur here as well. In addition, root canal treatment is a re-applicable method. Previous fillings can be renewed again. For this reason, there are issues that the patient should pay attention to after the treatment. By paying attention to these issues, it is not possible to experience any discomfort in the teeth and root canals. Does Endodontic-Canal Treated Tooth Pain? Endodontic method is applied in the treatment of problematic and painful teeth. In this method, the problematic tooth is completely purified and transformed into its old structure. After these procedures, filling processes are applied to prevent the cavities formed in the cleaned tooth from getting air. The teeth are filled without leaving any gaps in order to prevent any pain. Root canal treatment is not a painful procedure. In other words, the patient does not feel any pain during the treatment phase. However, depending on the infection in the teeth, a numbness problem may occur in the mouth. The spread of the infection that spreads to the roots is a determining cause of the severity of pain. After a few days of pain after the treatment, no pain is felt afterwards. What should I do if my pain does not go away? It is normal to feel some pain in the area after frequently applied endodontic treatment. It is also normal to feel a numbness in the chin as the mouth remains open for a long time during the treatment. After the treatment, if it is determined by the physician that more pain will be felt than usual, painkillers can be given to the patient. After the treatment, it is necessary to pay attention to the chewing condition. No chewing should be done on the treated tooth. It is necessary to consume food by paying attention to the hot and cold balance. In addition, consuming hard foods can damage the filling and increase the severity of the pain. The reason for physician-induced pain is that the root canal is not completely free of bacteria.

  • Root Canal Treatment | Dentasya

Root Canal Treatment What is Root Canal Treatment? Root canal treatment is applied to decaying or infected teeth, and the tooth is repaired and made healthier. It is among the treatment methods that allow the tooth to be saved and may take a little longer. It is a fact that dental caries is of vital importance over time in the processes that are not treated. Therefore, in order to prevent more severe pain, it is necessary to go through the control of the dentist. In case of need, root canal treatment should be performed, the problem should be eliminated and the tooth should be repaired. In root canal treatment, first of all, the hard tissue is entered. Then, the root canal is reached and the soft tissue is intervened. The tooth nerve called pulp is expelled. In this way, the problem that occurs in the inner part of the tooth is eliminated and its cleaning is ensured. Why is Root Canal Treatment Done? Tooth decay is not a dental problem to be taken lightly. If it is not intervened, it is necessary to take precautions because it can cause serious discomfort. Tooth decay reaches the dental nerve over time and causes pain. As a result of cracking or breaking the tooth, it also causes damage to the face. As a result, the tooth may become infected or inflamed. In case of damage to the dental nerve or dental pulp, bacteria begin to spread around the tooth. This bacterium multiplies and grows over time. Problems such as bacteria and tooth decay cause abscess formation or an increase in infection. In such cases, it is seen that the pain increases day by day. Severe pain disturbs the person, and based on this situation, root canal treatment is performed to prevent the problem. In this way, the tooth is repaired and the problem is prevented and the pain is eliminated. In which situations is root canal therapy applied? A carious tooth problem usually brings about very serious damage and causes pain. Over time, these cause facial paralysis and trauma. To be more descriptive and for the treatment to be applicable, dental x-rays are taken. Root canal treatment is considered appropriate for decayed teeth with deep external fractures. Things to Consider After Root Canal Treatment A little more care should be taken after root canal treatment. Because the formation of infection in the tooth causes pain. Therefore, the intake of crusty or hard foods should be avoided. It is very important not to take these foods for a while and not to damage the tooth. Routine oral and dental cleaning should be done during the day. It is useful to consider the situations that will cause tooth sensitivity and act accordingly. Teeth should be brushed for two minutes twice a day. The use of dental floss is beneficial in order to prevent infection after the root canal treatment. In this way, it is easier to remove the residues entering the tooth space. Avoiding the consumption of sugary or coloring foods, sticky and acidic foods and not taking them for a while will give healthier results. The medications recommended by the specialist must be taken regularly. What are the Alternatives to Root Canal Treatment? When viewed, 90% effective results are obtained with root canal treatment. Since the decayed tooth problem is repaired in this way, the formation of infection is prevented. After the treatment, the occurrence of pain or the occurrence of traumatic events is prevented. There is no dental nerve problem for a lifetime. Correct preservation of natural teeth at all times; It is a healthier condition for the mouth. The most effective results of root canal treatment are repaired without tooth loss. In this way, it is ensured that the natural tooth is taken under control without the application of artificial teeth. What should be done after root canal treatment? It is absolutely necessary to follow the instructions given by the dentist after the root canal treatment. In this way, the successful outcome of the treatment and the problems that may occur are prevented. In the treatment method to repair the tooth, situations that will cause sensitivity after the procedure should be avoided. Consumption of excessive cold and excessive heat can damage the tooth. Depending on the size of the caries problem in the tooth, the formation of infection occurs. The size of this infection is usually painful. It should be known that the root canal treatment is not caused by pain. For this reason, attention is paid to the regular use of the drugs recommended by the dentist. Eating and drinking is suspended for a while. Especially avoiding crusty and hard foods should be helped to complete the treatment correctly. Treatment alone is not effective. The patient also plays a big role and by following the instructions, he gets effective results. How Many Sessions Does Root Canal Treatment Take? The duration of root canal treatment is a subject that varies from person to person. Because the operation is performed according to the number of roots of the tooth. Infections in root canals and nerve cleaning cause time change. The size of the tooth infection can take longer to cure and in some cases for weeks. There is a limitation of the duration of each root canal treatment to 30-90 minutes. Here, if there is an infection, it must first be cleaned and medication applied. It is necessary to wait a week for the drug to take effect. At the end of a week, the treatment is completed with the completion of the root canal treatment. It is possible to say that this can be resolved in 2-3 sessions. Does Root Canal Treatment Hurt? Pain formation during the procedure varies completely depending on the infection in the tooth. Depending on the infection in the tooth, root canal treatment is painful or painless. However, local anesthesia is applied before the procedure in order to relieve the patient and as a requirement of the medical procedure. With local anesthesia, the area to be treated is anesthetized. Since it shows the numbing effect, there is no feeling of pain. Since problems such as pity do not arise, it is done with peace of mind and does not harm the person. How Does Root Canal Treatment Pain Go? Caries in the tooth cause tooth loss over time. It brings the emergence of very serious pain in the patient before tooth loss. Since pain causes facial paralysis and trauma, it should not be perceived as just a dental problem. Because a toothache can bring unexpected results. This problem is eliminated by the examination of the dentist. Pain does not occur with local anesthesia before root canal treatment. However, as the local anesthesia begins to lose its effect, the pain manifests itself according to the size of the infection in the tooth. In order to relieve these pains, the medications recommended by the dentist should be taken regularly. Medicines can be sold without a prescription. This is an effective and correct method. This is not the case with the root canal treatment method performed here. Because the tooth nerve is removed and the tooth infection is eliminated. It is repaired because it remains in the mouth. As the tooth problem is resolved, the tooth regains its former functions. After this process, it is necessary to pay more attention to oral and dental health. In this way, since the formation of dental problems is prevented and the problems are eliminated, the tooth is used for a long time. As long as no other problems arise, it continues to do its job for the mouth. Will I Feel Pain During Root Canal Treatment? It is very rare to experience pain during root canal treatment. Because local anesthesia is applied before the procedure to perform the medical procedure. In this way, the tooth is anesthetized and the problem is resolved before pain occurs. Local anesthesia also shows its effect after the procedure. Pain may occur as it loses its effect over time. Pain can be prevented by taking the medications recommended by the dentist. I Had Root Canal Treatment But I Still Have Pain In My Tooth, Why? Root canal treatment is known as a painful treatment. This situation varies according to the formation of infection in the tooth and the damage to the tooth. In fact, under normal conditions, pain does not occur. Because here, local anesthesia is applied to the patient before the procedure. With local anesthesia, pain does not appear both during and after the procedure. The cause of the pain felt varies according to the size of the infection in the tooth. To prevent painful situations that may occur; It is recommended to use the medicines recommended by the dentist regularly. In this way, pain relief and treatment can be controlled.

  • Dental Implant | Dentasya

Dental Implant What is Dental Implant? Dental Implants are artificial tooth roots that are placed in the jawbone to support the prosthesis. Implants made to replace missing teeth are screws made of titanium, which are long-lasting and can be used for a lifetime without any problems. The procedure is performed by dentists in sterile environments with a surgical intervention to be applied to the jawbone with a surgical procedure. What are the Advantages of Dental Implants Compared to Bridge Construction? Patients prefer dental implant or bridge treatment to replace their lost teeth. Which treatment method will be applied is decided by the examination of dentists specialized in oral, dental and maxillofacial surgery. In order to apply bridge treatment, at least two teeth on both sides of the gap are cut. Afterwards, measurements are taken and the prosthesis made is adhered to these cut teeth. In implant treatment, an implant with an artificial tooth root is added to the jawbone of the areas where there is a missing tooth, with screws created with titanium. The most important advantage of the implant is that it protects other healthy teeth. In the bridge, it is necessary to damage the two healthy teeth for the missing tooth. One of the differences between implant and bridge treatment is the duration of use. The implant provides lifelong use to the patient. Bridge treatment, on the other hand, has a period of use that varies according to the material it is made of. This period usually varies between 10-15 years. The implant is much closer to the natural tooth than the bridge in terms of aesthetic appearance. At the same time, with the implant treatment, the patient will gain a better speech, chewing and smile. One of the disadvantages of the bridge is that the healthy teeth used as bridge legs also have the risk of decay over time, and in this case, the bridge treatment must be renewed by treating the decayed tooth. In addition, the probability of developing gum disease of the bridge is higher than the implant. The only advantage of the bridge is that it is low cost and can be used as an instant solution. However, it should not be forgotten that implant treatment is safer, more durable and long-lasting. Another situation where a bridge can be preferred is as follows; If the other tooth on the side is problematic, has fractures or contains large fillings, and if they are covered at the same time, they will be healthier, a bridge should be considered as the first choice. It should be noted that there are some cases where implants cannot be applied. Implant treatment cannot be applied to children and individuals whose bone development has not been completed. In addition, implant treatment cannot be applied to people with diabetes, hemophilia or significant immune system diseases. Bridge prosthesis method is suitable for these patients. What are the Benefits of a Dental Implant? Implant treatment is a more durable and reliable method compared to all other methods. Dental implant treatment, which is applied without touching other teeth, does not harm any tooth as it is applied alone. Implants, which are made of the material closest to the natural tooth appearance, do not cause any change or deterioration in the person's mouth and tooth structure. In treatments such as bridges and canals, visual distortions may occur due to the deterioration of the tooth structure. However, there is no problem such as deterioration in implant treatment. Since the jaw can perform the chewing function properly with the implant, people are free to eat whatever they want. Consuming hard foods on teeth with veneers or fillings can make the person nervous. Because it is very likely to break and re-treatment. People often prefer implant treatment to have aesthetically beautiful teeth and appearance. The duration of use is quite long compared to various other treatment methods. Implants made of the right material and applied correctly can be used for a lifetime. Oral care must be done after implant treatment. The patient should add the oral care recommendations to be created by the physician to his daily routine. After the treatment, the person is given an appearance that he will not have to restrict his behaviors such as talking and laughing. What Should Be Considered After Dental Implant Application? After the implant treatment, the patient is discharged on the same day. The prescription given by the dentist should be used in full by the patient. During the healing process of the implant procedure, the patient should attach great importance to oral care. Smoking and alcohol should be avoided until the healing process is over. Otherwise, the implants will not fuse with the bone and this may cause various infections. How Long Does a Dental Implant Last? It is possible to produce solutions that are closest to reality with advancing technology and developing health in the partial or complete loss of teeth. Implant treatment begins with placing an artificial prosthesis on the jawbone. Then, dental implant treatment, which is almost indistinguishable from the real tooth, is applied on the area that fuses with the jawbone and completely ossifies. In this application, the placement time of the bone varies according to the width of the patient's mouth or the suitability in the mouth. The average duration of implant treatment varies from 10 minutes to half an hour. In patients with a narrow jaw structure for implant application, this process may take up to a few hours. For the ossification and fusion process of the applied artificial base, the placement of the teeth and a problem-free jaw and tooth use process, the treatment takes place in a time period ranging from about 3 months to 8 months. Can a Dental Implant be Applied to Every Patient? The implants used in the treatment are screws that have a fixed width and height. For this reason, in order to apply dental implant treatment, the bone structure of the patient's jaw should be suitable for the treatment. The bone structure in the patient's jaw must have the width, capacity and height to carry the implants. If the bone structure has a certain suitability for implant treatment, the treatment is more successful. However, insufficiency in the jawbone of the person is treated with auxiliary techniques such as augmentation (bone addition) and soft grafting; the patient's mouth can be made suitable for implant treatment. Apart from this, it can be applied to every age group after adolescence, provided that people who want to have implants do not have problems in terms of oral and dental health. Patients suitable for implant treatment are as follows: Sufficient amount and quality of soft and hard tissues in the mouth, The bone structure must be of a certain width and height for the implant. Absence of some diseases that prevent bone structure such as hemophilia, Implant treatment can be applied in case of controlling diabetes (diabetes) diseases. Is a Dental Implant Necessary for Every Lost Tooth? Implant treatment can be applied to all oral cavities with sufficient jaw bone thickness and length. In order for the screwed tooth roots to be placed, the implant must contain the volume it occupies and be thick enough to surround the screwed tooth. In case of single tooth deficiencies, neighboring teeth may move towards empty spaces over the years, and there may not be a gap in this area where dental implant treatment will be applied. In such cases, it is not possible to perform implant treatment without bringing the teeth back to their original places with orthodontic treatment. Patients who want to have implant treatment in an area with a single tooth cavity should start implant treatment as soon as possible. In cases where there are two or three missing teeth in a row, but the neighboring teeth close this empty section, one or two implants are placed on the area in question and the other sections are covered prosthesis can be made. In this case, it is extremely important to plan implant and prosthesis with aesthetic appearance. In cases where bone quality and sufficiency cannot be increased, implant application cannot be performed. Since the bone resorption is very advanced in these patients, the patient may not be suitable for implant treatment despite the necessary surgical operations. However, in multiple edentulous diseases, implant treatment can be applied by planning on regions where bone quality and at the same time sufficiency are more suitable. Implants are not necessary for every missing tooth. It is possible to make an interdental bridge in areas where there is more than one tooth loss. Is It Possible for the Body to Not Accept the Dental Implant? Titanium, the raw material of the implant, is the most suitable material for human tooth structure. The body accepts titanium in a very short time and as a result, the healing process begins. The implant is not accepted by the body. However, factors such as not paying attention to oral hygiene during the recovery period, excessive alcohol and cigarette consumption, and possible infections; They can prevent the implant from combining with the bone. As a result, the dental implant may be lost. When the implant is applied, the healing process can be overcome comfortably and without any problems by strictly following the doctor's recommendations. After recovery, the implants can be used for a lifetime, thanks to regular physician controls and a good routine oral care. What is done in the first dental implant examination? Before starting the treatment, the patient should be examined by a physician specialized in oral, dental and maxillofacial surgery. The first examination to be performed by the dentist consists of diagnosis and planning of treatment. Afterwards, the patient is made suitable for intraoral treatment. In the clinical examination, it is determined what kind of treatment the patient needs. After the treatment, the type of implant requested by the patient and how the prosthesis will look are determined in the first examination. How Does the Dental Implant Treatment Process Proceed? The implant treatment process varies from patient to patient. In cases of multiple tooth loss, the prosthesis stage is started on the same day with the quadruple implant treatment. In some patients, due to additional surgical procedures, the fusion period should be waited. Porcelain veneers are made on the dental implant, which fuses for an average of 3 months in the upper jaw and an average of 2 months in the lower jaw. If additional processing is applied to the jaws that are not thick enough or low, the waiting period may be extended up to 6 months. How Is Nutrition After Dental Implant? There are important points that you should pay attention to before and after the patient's implant treatment. After the treatment, the patient should pay a lot of attention to his eating habits. Some eating habits to be aware of are: Very cold or very hot food and drink should not be consumed after the implant. Food and liquid should not be consumed for at least 2 hours after the implant procedure. Solid foods should be avoided, especially for the first 24 hours. The patient should consume soft foods, but avoid consuming hot foods. How Is Oral Care Done After Dental Implant? After the implant treatment is applied, the healing process that the patient should pay attention to will begin. The patient should avoid movements that will cause pressure in the mouth until he is completely healed. On the day of implant treatment, the mouth should not be rinsed. Gargle should not be done. In the first days of treatment, the patient should be gentle and slow in brushing and flossing. The saliva accumulated in the mouth should be thrown out during this period. However, it is necessary to stay away from snoring or blowing that will create room for pressure in the mouth. For this reason, it is also possible to clean the implant areas with the help of moistened cotton cloth or gauze.
